BioWare "addressing" Mass Effect 3 ending
The Mass Effect 3 team is planning on giving more closure to fans upset by the Mass Effect 3 ending.
Without delving into spoilery specifics, it's fair to say that the ending to Mass Effect 3 - itself the final part in a trilogy of games that began back in 2007 - has divided its fanbase, and BioWare's co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka has stated that these complaints are being addressed.
In a blog post on the BioWare website, Muzyka notes that the team has been "thinking hard about how best to address the comments on ME3's endings from players, while still maintaining the artistic integrity of the game."
This will apparently come in the form of "a number of game content initiatives that will help answer the questions, providing more clarity for those seeking further closure to their journey."
We'll be getting specific details in April, but in plain language it sounds like we'll be seeing some post-game DLC that'll help wrap things up a little more. If correct, then the question remains as to whether this'll act as an olive branch by being free to players with an online pass, or if it's going to be paid content, in which case it might well incense gamers further. Nobody likes having to pay extra for an ending, after all.
Muzyka did, however, make a point of defending the team, and noted that while BioWare will "listen and respond to constructive criticism", they "will not support or respond to destructive commentary." You may want to bear that in mind if you're planning on discussing this on the official forums.
