SingStar to be free download for PS3

Sony has announced that SingStar will become a free download for the PlayStation 3.

Discs will no longer be needed as players can now install the game from the PS3's XMB.

All previous songs are available and cost the same as usual while the SingStore will continue as normal.

Newcomers to SingStar can access various one-minute demo tracks but they'll have to purchase the songs to play properly.

Sony also confirmed that the PlayStation Eye peripheral can now be used as a microphone.
