GTA 5 officially announced for spring 2013 release

RockStar Games has officially announced a spring 2013 launch for Grand Theft Auto 5.

The game will take place in the city of Los Santos and the surrounding area, taking in everything from mountaintops to the depths of the ocean.

The developer promises that GTA 5 is "the largest and most ambitious title in the series to date", with Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 being announced as launch platforms.

"Grand Theft Auto 5 builds on everything we've learned about open world game design," claimed RockStar Games founder Sam Houser.

"We can't wait to share it with fans."
