The cost of the Wii U will have to be dropped in the near future, according to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot.

Ubisoft is the biggest third-party supporter of the Wii U so far, with a host of games planned for the console.

However Guillemot claimed he would be happier if it came with a lower price tag at launch.

"I always prefer lower pricing, so I can't say I'm happy," he told GamesIndustry.

"I'm never happy when the machines are expensive. What we have to do there is remember that compared to an iPad, it's cheap. With what it brings [to the gaming table] it's cheap.

"But I hope they'll be able to drop their price in time."

The Wii U launches 30 November across Europe and will be available in three different packs. A Basic Pack for roughly £250 GBP, a Premium Pack for around £310 GBP and a ZombiU Premium pack for about £340 GBP.
