Wii U makes profit after one game purchase
Nintendo will make money on the Wii U when users buy their first game for the console.
The company recently confirmed that unlike previous hardware releases, the Wii U is being sold at a loss.
Nintendo of America boss, Reggie Fils-Aime, said the news wasn't that big a deal as the Wii U makes a profit as soon as consumers buy a single game.
"As soon as we get the consumer to buy one piece of software, then that entire transaction becomes profit positive," he told Mercury News.
"In the end, the business model is still to drive the install base of hardware. Then to drive a strong tie ratio with all of the other software and experiences for the consumer.
"And if we're able to do that, then we will create significant profit for the company."
The Wii U went on sale in North America last week, and is set to launch in Europe on 30 November.
