Borderlands 2 not heading to Wii U

Gearbox Software boss Randy Pitchford has explained why Borderlands 2 isn't heading to the Wii U in the near future.

Borderlands 2 launched in September to successful sales and critical acclaim, so it's only natural for fans to ask whether Nintendo's new console will let Vault Hunters explore the world of Pandora.

Pitchford has previously stated his love for the Wii U GamePad, but he doesn't believe it offers anything to make the Borderlands 2 experience unique.

"We get asked if there is going to be a Wii U version of Borderlands, and the reason why there's not is because we couldn't think of a natural, obvious, 'OMG, I want that for what the Wii U brings to the table' feature," he told GamesMaster magazine.

Gearbox is currently working on Aliens: Colonial Marines, a first-person shooter which will be released on the Wii U.

Pitchford explained why Aliens is a good fit for the console but Borderlands isn't.

"But with Aliens, the first thing we thought was 'Holy sh*t, I can have a motion controller in my hands!'

"When it's there in my lap it feels like I'm part of the movie."
