Dishonored exceeds Bethesda's expectations

Bethesda has revealed that Dishonored has far exceeded the publisher's own sales expectations.

The first-person stealth title launched earlier this year to critical acclaim, and now it seems like it's been a commercial success as well.

Bethesda marketing boss, Pete Hines, didn't disclose official sales figures, but he did say that Dishonored is a new franchise for the company.

"I can tell you that Dishonored is far exceeding our sales expectations," he told Destructoid, "which is especially cool considering it's a new IP facing a host of well-established franchises this quarter.

"We did terrific numbers again this past weekend, both in stores and on Steam, where Dishonored was listed as the number one selling title over the holiday weekend. And Dishonored has really sold well overseas.

"So, we're very pleased and appreciate all the fans that have supported Dishonored and Arkane. We clearly have a new franchise."

A sequel to Dishonored looks extremely likely as it joins Bethesda's other franchises, such as Elder Scrolls, Fallout and Doom.
