The Last of Us dated for May, features multiplayer

The Last of Us has been given a release date of 7 May, while Naughty Dog confirmed it would feature a multiplayer mode.

The post-apocalyptic adventure game received a spectacular new gameplay trailer at the VGAs announcing the launch date.

Naughty Dog later wrote about the multiplayer segment of the game on the US PlayStation Blog.

"We'll talk about multiplayer and show more when we feel it's ready," said Naughty Dog community strategist Arne Meyer. "Stay tuned!"

Meyer also moved to calm fears that a multiplayer mode would detract from the single player experience.

"We don't approach multiplayer in any of our games as tacked on. And we also always have separate teams working on the different components so that we can maintain full focus on making single player and multiplayer up to our standards."
