Disney Infinity announced with trailer and prices

Disney Interactive will launch Disney Infinity this summer, a game similar to Activision's Skylanders.

It will come with physical toy figurines that can be plugged into a reader base, allowing players to open up a particular character's unique game.

Prices for a starter pack consisting of the core game, a reader base and three figurines are around $75 USD.

The three characters in the starter pack include the popular Captain Jack Sparrow, Mr. Incredible and Sulley from Monsters Inc.

Players will get to take part in each character's game once the figurine has been placed on the reader base.

A three-pack of figurines will be sold for $29.99 USD, or you can buy them individually for $12.99 USD.

There will be 20 different characters available to buy from launch.

"Disney Infinity introduces a new way to interact with the best of Disney on one game platform, both now and in the future," said Disney Interactive co-president John Pleasants.

"With this innovative approach to gaming, Disney Infinity will bring to life new characters, stories and environments from The Walt Disney Company over time in a way that will delight fans and gamers alike."

Disney Infinity will be released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC, Wii U, Wii and 3DS. There are also plans to roll it out across mobile and online devices in 2013.
