Luigi's Mansion 2 will have local multiplayer

Upcoming 3DS title Luigi's Mansion 2 will include a local multiplayer mode.

Nintendo confirmed the news for the first time on the official Luigi's Mansion website.

The original Luigi's Mansion launched solely as a single player experience on the GameCube nearly 12 years ago.

"With so many new places to explore, all new ways to capture ghosts, and a brand new local multiplayer mode, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon is another star turn for Mario's heroic brother - and it's only on Nintendo 3DS," said a statement on the website.

Luigi's Mansion 2 was rumoured to be making an appearance on the Wii U but right now that doesn't seem likely.
