Dead Space 3 includes micro-transactions

Dead Space 3 will give players the option of using micro-transactions to speed up weapon crafting.

Eurogamer spotted the mention of 'downloadable content' when resources to craft a particular weapon were running low.

Dead Space 3 associate producer, Yara Khoury, said players could either play through the game to gain the needed resources or spend real-world money to acquire them instantly.

"You can buy resources with real money, but scavenger bots can also give you the currency that you can use on the marketplace," she said.

"So you don't have to spend [real world] dollars."

Prices weren't revealed, but Khoury said several different packs of in-game currency would be offered.

However there is no danger of new players spending money on the best weaponry straight away.

"There are a lot of weapon parts that are only available to buy later in the game," she added. "Unless you're playing through it again [on New Game Plus]."

Dead Space 3 is the latest EA title to include micro-transactions, after the likes of Mass Effect 3 and Need for Speed: Most Wanted offered them last year.
