Koch Media has confirmed the acquisition of Saints Row and Metro from THQ, claiming both IPs are a 'perfect fit'.

A 22-hour auction was held yesterday to determine where THQ's licenses and studios would end up following the publisher filing for bankruptcy.

German based Koch Media purchased Saints Row studio Volition, the rights to the Saints Row series and the rights to Metro: Last Light for a total of $28million USD.

"Koch Media welcomes the addition of these magnificent franchises to the Koch Media family of entertainment properties," said Koch Media CEO Dr Klemens Kundratitz.

"With more than 200 games on notable platforms globally, and its proven success creating renowned franchises like Dead Island, Deep Silver is perfectly positioned to lead these brands into the next generation of interactive entertainment for fans around the world."

Deep Silver will now lead all further development and marketing on the Saints Row and Metro franchises.

"Deep Silver already has a track record for out of the ordinary games, including the immensely successful Dead Island brand," added Deep Silver commercial director Menno van der Bil.

"Both the Saints Row and Metro franchises fit perfectly fit into our future lineup and strategy. We're really excited to lead these well-respected licenses into a bright new future."

Koch Media will be announcing future plans for the franchises within the coming months.
