EA taking Medal of Honor out of yearly rotation
Medal of Honor is being taken out of its yearly rotation cycle by EA following disappointing sales.
The latest in the series, Warfighter, was critically slated from all angles and even long-time fans of the series found the game to be poor.
EA COO, Peter Moore, defended the game but said Medal of Honor would now be taken out of rotation.
"Critics were polarised and gave the game scores which were, frankly, lower than it deserved," Moore said in a financial call.
"This one is behind us now. We are taking Medal of Honor out of the rotation and have a plan to bring year-over-year continuity to our shooters offerings."
EA Labels president, Frank Gibeau, was slightly more apologetic.
"We're in a hit-driven business where it's about what you can build in a certain period of time and really deliver for the marketplace, and frankly we missed on Medal of Honor," he said.
"And we take responsibility for that."
There was better news for EA elsewhere as it was revealed that FIFA 13 had sold 12 million units by the end of Q4 last year, a 23% increase over FIFA 12 the previous year.
The Battlefield 3 Premium service is also doing well, with 2.9 million subscribers and over $108 million USD generated in sales.
