PS4 doesn't require always-on internet connection

Sony has revealed that the PlayStation 4 won't require an always-on internet connection.

A lot of the focus from the PS4 conference last night was placed on social gaming and sharing your experiences with friends.

However Sony Worldwide Studios boss, Shuhei Yoshida, said the PS4 does work offline as well.

"You can play offline, but you may want to keep it connected," he told Eurogamer.

"Oh yes, yes, you can go offline totally. Social is big for us, but we understand there are some people who are anti-social! So if you don't want to connect to anyone else, you can do that."
