Need For Speed movie reported

Despite the amazing quality of movies with cars in them of late (Fast and Furious, Wheelman etc) - that's sarcasm - there are reports that EA's Need For Speed game will be made into a Hollywood movie.

The report in Variety claims Real Steel will produce the movie and EA would co-produce. There has already been some concept art from John Gatins. George Gatins, brother of John, would help write the script.  Quite what the producer of the film "My Wife is a Retard" is going to bring to the table is beyond us, but hey, what do we know?

There has been some interest from Paramount, Sony and Warner Bros. with the magazine reporting that there would probably be a "low-seven figure" bidding war in time. We don't believe Warner Bros. would stay involved if it went any higher, given they have their own game IPs and suggests a conflict of interest.

How exactly the game will be adapted for the big screen, we're not quite sure. The game's storyline is almost non-existent, with only The Run really having any real story element to it; and even then the story was quite poor.
