Microsoft: Valve not a competitor to Xbox

Valve and its soon to be released Steam Box is not a competitor for the Xbox, according to Microsoft's Don Mattrick.

2013 will see several pieces of new gaming hardware released, including the likes of the PlayStation 4, the next Xbox, Android-based Ouya and Valve's own Steam Box.

Mattrick doesn't believe that Microsoft has anything to worry about regarding the Steam Box, pointing to several other companies who he sees as threats instead.

"No," he told The Verge when questioned on Valve being a competitor.

"The scale of products and things that are being brought to market are probably a little bit richer when I look at Sony, Nintendo, Apple and Google," he added.

Microsoft is expected to reveal its next-gen hardware at a special event in April, while Sony have already revealed the PlayStation 4.
