Next PES will use Fox Engine
The Fox Engine used for games such as Metal Gear Solid will be used to power current-gen and next-gen versions of Pro Evolution Soccer.
The engine will enhance visuals and give footballers a more realistic look as they run around the pitch.
Senior producer, Naoya Hatsumi, said the engine could be used for any platform in the future.
"Our new engine isn't limited to the next few years, but [is ready] for next-gen platforms," he told Edge.
"It is not just about making games for the TV; the engine can adapt to any platform, like tablet or mobile."
Hatsumi also claimed that the next PES will offer players new ways to interact with the game.
"The concern is fewer people will have time to pick up their controllers and play games on the TV," he added. "The market has shrunk, so we want to make it possible to, say, edit players on your phone or alter formations, so when you turn on your game, you can instantly start playing with your favoured pre-sets. We want PES to fit around users' lifestyles."
Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 hasn't yet been officially announced by Konami.
