Wii U Pokémon game to include Skylanders tech

The upcoming Wii U Pokémon game will feature similar toy technology to the immensely successful Skylanders series.

Pokemon Rumble U was announced in Japan last month and is the third entry in the Rumble spin-off series.

Players will be able to buy Pokemon toy figures to access their favourite characters in-game.

Six standard figures and one special character have been announced so far, with the first being Pikachu.

The game is likely to use the NFC sensor included in the Wii U GamePad instead of needing a Skylanders style Portal accessory.

Pokémon Rumble U has yet to be announced for regions other than Japan.
