EA's Origin Service reaches 40 million members

EA's digital distribution service Origin now has over 40 million registered members.

It's a small step up from the 39 million members it had at the end of 2012, with the recently released SimCity likely one of the main reasons for the jump.

EA has announced The Origin Player Appreciation Sale to celebrate the news, which offers discounts on a select few games.

Origin's main rival is Valve's Steam service, which reported over 50 million users last September.
