Miyamoto: Wii U will flourish like the DS
Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto has insisted that the Wii U will be a success, comparing it to the popular DS handheld.
The DS was released to many people wondering whether two screens on a gaming device were necessary.
It has since gone on to sell over 150 million units, and Miyamoto believes the Wii U will win consumers over eventually.
"There was a period when we first released the Nintendo DS that people would say there's no way people can look at two screens at once," he told CNN.
"I almost feel like, as people get more familiar with Wii U and these touchscreen interfaces, that there is going to come a point where they feel 'I can't do everything I want to do if I don't have a second screen'."
Plenty of new Wii U titles are expected to be announced at E3 this year. One title that won't be heading to the console is Aliens: Colonial Marines, which Sega confirmed as cancelled.
