EA shutting down several Facebook games

EA will take three PlayFish Facebook games offline in June due to a significant decrease in players.

SimCity Social, The Sims Social and Pet Society will be retired from 14 June, while EA will be "sharpening its focus to provide games for new platforms and mobile".

The publisher said that other games, such as PopCap's Plants vs. Zombies, Bejeweled Blitz and Solitaire Blitz will remain online.

EA has been in the news recently due to a number of staff cuts being made at its Montreal studio. Around 20 staff were also cut from the EA customer support office in Galway, Ireland.
