Capcom halves its profit forecast
Capcom has halved its profit forecast for the financial year, but the publisher insists the next 12 months will see a major sales success.
The news comes with the announcement that Capcom is preparing a company restructure, which will cost around £46million GBP.
The restructuring will be used as an opportunity to modernise the business.
"In view of the sudden and significant changes in the operating environment of the digital contents business, Capcom reviewed its business expansion strategy for the sector and restructured its games development organisation," explained the Capcom group.
Capcom originally expected to record a profit of £43million GBP, but that figure has now been revised down to £19million.
It wasn't all bad news for Capcom though, as the company managed more than the £625million GBP it expected in sales leading up to 31 March. The Resident Evil series was mentioned as the main reason for the good numbers.
Capcom hopes to reach sales of £648million GBP for the financial year ending April 2014.
