Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 opens fire in August

Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 will be launching on 21 August.

City Interactive has announced that the first-person shooter with a focus on long-ranged rifles will be hitting PC, 360, and PS3 on 21 August.

In celebration of this fact, an official website offering trailers, screenshots, and interviews has also launched.

While the first game wasn't exactly postively received, hopes seem to be high for the sequel which boasts of improved AI, a variety of new challenges, and a high level of realism in terms of ballistics. It'll all look rather pretty, too, as it's being made in CryENGINE3.

The 21 August release date means that Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2 will be releasing a few months after the similarly named Sniper Elite V2, due on 4 May, which - while having a similar emphasis on realistic sniping - focuses more on the tail-end of World War 2. In short, if you're a big fan of shooting people from a very long distance, 2012 could be your year.
