Company of Heroes 2 gets Theatre of War mode

Sega has announced a new mode for Company of Heroes 2 titled Theatre of War.

It will offer single-player and co-op challenges based on the most iconic battles on the Eastern Front.

"The mode includes solo challenges where players are pitted against overwhelming odds, AI battles against an enemy commander with a unique play style and co-operative scenarios for fans to enjoy with their friends," said Sega.

Theatre of War will feature battles set in 1941 at launch, where players can choose to fight as either the Soviets or the Germans.

Each faction offers nine unique missions and further missions will be added to the game after release.

"We get a lot of requests from fans to showcase specific conflicts from the war and it isn't always possible to fit these into the campaign," said producer Greg Wilson.

"Theatre of War gives us the opportunity to deliver these new gameplay experiences to our fans."

Company of Heroes 2 launches 25 June.
