Gran Turismo 6 details leaked, hitting PS3 this year

Gran Turismo 6 is set to launch later this year for the PlayStation 3, according to leaked details.

Several sites claim to have received information regarding the racer, which is said to have been revealed at a media event at Silverstone today.

"It is amazing to think that it is 15 years since we first released Gran Turismo," said series creator Kazunori Yamauchi [via Polygon].

"Things have changed a lot since then and now Gran Turismo 6 is a further evolution of my dream. We're pleased to deliver Gran Turismo 6 to PlayStation 3 as we have a very loyal community on that platform."

A leaked press release also claims that 1200 vehicles will be included in Gran Turismo 6, including every car and track from 2010s Gran Turismo 5.

Additional cars will be added as DLC, while the game will add seven new locations to the series, bringing the track count up to 33.

A PS3 launch for Gran Turismo 6 was first rumoured back in February, when Sony's Michael Denny claimed that the racer was planned for the current-gen console.

A retailer then listed the game for a PS3 release on 28 November 2013, but this was quickly taken down.

Expect an official announcement from Sony sometime soon.
