Call of Duty: Ghosts not running on all-new engine
Call of Duty: Ghosts isn't running on an all-new engine as previously claimed, according to Infinity Ward developer Zach Volker.
When Activision first announced Ghosts earlier this month there were statements confirming that it was built using a new engine to create a better game.
However Volker has dismissed the all-new engine talk, saying that Ghosts runs on the same engine as previous games but with a few key enhancements.
"When we're talking about a new engine we're talking about upgrading significant systems within that engine," he told OPM.
"We're not talking about throwing it all away and saying we're starting from the ground up."
Volker also said that having to create a new Call of Duty every two years could be a hindrance, as it's "impossible to develop a new engine from the ground up in a two year cycle".
Activision just released a trailer showing off the capabilities of the upgraded Ghosts engine compared to previous games. Watch it below.
