Xbox One games region-locked

Xbox One games will be region-locked, a Microsoft representative has confirmed.

Microsoft announced its next-gen console last week with a big unveiling in the US, however there were many questions that went unanswered.

One of them was to do with region-locking, however it now appears as if that issue has been cleared up.

"Similar to the movie and music industry, games must meet country-specific regulatory guidelines before they are cleared for sale," a Microsoft rep told Digital Trends.

"We will continue to work with our partners to follow these guidelines with Xbox One."

Xbox 360 games were largely region-locked as well, so this decision should come as no surprise.
