Sony: PS4 is a video game console "first and foremost"
The PlayStation 4 is a gaming console "first and foremost", according to Sony boss Kaz Hirai.
The Xbox One was criticised following its reveal last week, as some people believed that Microsoft had stopped catering to the gaming audience.
Now it seems like Hirai is taking a sly swipe at Microsoft by saying that the PS4 is focusing on video games over everything else.
"The most important thing we need to do is agree and understand that the PS4 is a great video game console that appeals to video gamers," he said at the D11 conference [via The Verge].
"If we miss that part, I don't think we get the initial establishment of the console. That formula has worked for us with all our consoles, including the PS3."
Microsoft responded to the criticism earlier this week when Don Mattrick claimed that $1billion USD had been set aside to make Xbox One exclusives.
It's also been announced that 15 exclusives will be heading to the Xbox One within its first year of release.
Hirai took time to add that the PS4 will also be providing other features on top of games, which will probably be revealed at E3.
"Providing other non-game content is an area we will reveal and talk about in the coming months, but it's first and foremost a video game console."
