Pachter: Sony "stabbed Microsoft in the back"
Yesterday's Sony E3 press conference was such a resounding victory for the platform holder that games analyst Michael Pachter has compared it to them stabbing Microsoft in the back.
Pachter was impressed with the way Sony handled the big issues of DRM and used games and he now believes that they are in the driving seat for next-gen.
"I was a little surprised at how specific they were with used games and DRM, but props to them," Pachter told GameTrailers. "I think that was genius.
"The audience just ate it up, and the most impressive thing about that press conference was when Jack Tretton paused and waited 60 seconds for applause to subside before he read the next line on the slide about used games and DRM.
"So what they did was they stabbed Microsoft in the back, and then Jack just twisted that knife about every 60 seconds for five minutes.
"So you really did have a five minute, sustained, crowd-goes-wild moment, and that was awesome. And that's what everyone reported today and what everyone picked up on."
Pachter had previously predicted that Microsoft would win the next-gen console war, however he now claims that if things carry on the way they have been then "Sony outsells Microsoft by 2-3million consoles a year".
