Insomniac explains Sunset Overdrive Xbox One exclusivity
Sunset Overdrive is heading exclusively to Xbox One due to the console's ability to update content on the go, according to Insomniac CEO Ted Price.
The open-world shooter will have new features continuously added such as weapons and characters, and apparently the Xbox One provides the best platform for these updates.
"The Xbox One and Xbox Live will support our ambitions to create an ongoing two-way dialogue with our community," wrote Price on the Insomniac website.
"It will also allow us to have quicker production cycles, enabling timely content updates for new weapons, characters, storylines and even pop culture-relevant content like memes based on social commentary."
Insonmiac has previously been a studio that created games solely for the PlayStation systems, before it launched its first multi-platform title with Fuse earlier this year.
Price added that Sunset Overdrive being an Xbox One exclusive doesn't rule out the developer going back to Sony in the future.
"While we are excited about partnering with Microsoft on Sunset Overdrive, that doesn't mean we can't or wouldn't make games with our longtime friends at Sony.
"That's the magic of being an independent developer."
