UPDATE: Microsoft has indeed bactracked on its DRM policies. Don Mattick the President of Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft has written on Xbox Wire "Your Feedback Matters- Update on Xbox One".

According to a report that has appeared on whathifi.com, it is strongly rumored that Microsoft is going to bactrack on its DRM policies and the need to have an always online, for the Xbox One.
This rumor has been backed up by Patrick Klepek from Giant Bomb, he wrote in a tweet: "Multiple sources inform me Microsoft will pull what amounts to a complete reversal on its DRM policies today."
If this happens, it would mean the following:
- No more always online requirement
- The console no longer has to check in every 24 hours
- All game discs will work on Xbox One as they do on Xbox 360
- Authentication is no longer necessary
- An Internet connection is only required when initially setting up the console
- All downloaded games will function the same when online or offline
- No additional restrictions on trading games or loaning discs
- Region locks have been dropped
