Ubisoft believes in Wii U second screen experience
The Wii U GamePad can add a new dimension to gaming, according to Ubisoft senior vice president of sales and marketing Tony Key.
This will be music to the ears of Nintendo, who recently had to listen to Ubisoft boss Yves Guillemot say that the Wii U should sell more units for the publisher to continue making games for it.
Key claimed that Ubisoft is taking the Wii U very seriously as a platform, and pointed to the likes of Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag and Watch Dogs as evidence of this.
"We have just has many games coming out on Wii U this year as we did at launch," he told IGN. "So we like the second screen.
"We think there are opportunities with all these games to extend them - to another person, to another location. We're taking it very seriously."
Key said that Ubisoft is looking at mobile companion apps to take advantage of having that second screen.
"We want to extend the experience to whatever screen is handy," he added.
"We have been looking for ways to take advantage of these second screens. Those companion apps are our first attempt at doing that."
However despite Key's enthusiasm about the Wii U, recently announced Ubisoft games such as The Crew and The Division don't look they'll be arriving on the console.
