Mario Kart 8 slated for April 2014 release

Mario Kart 8 has been given an April 2014 release date in a Nintendo Europe newsletter.

The latest installment in the karting series was announced during the Nintendo Direct E3 broadcast, but only a spring 2014 launch window was mentioned.

Now the newsletter appears to confirm that the window has been narrowed down to April, although Nintendo are remaining vague on the issue and only saying that Mario Kart 8 is coming in 2014.

Mario Kart 8 will bring a whole host of new features to the series, such as anti-gravity, which allows players to race on walls and ceilings.

Nintendo president Saturo Iwata also said that Mario Kart 8 would feature the best range of multiplayer modes that the series has ever seen.
