Ubisoft's user accounts hacked

Ubisoft has confirmed that user accounts for its online service have been hacked, however no personal payment information was taken.

The publisher took to its official forum to explain the hack, saying that unauthorised access had been gained to some of its online systems.

All users are now being encouraged to change their passwords.

"We recently found that one of our web sites was exploited to gain unauthorised access to some of our online systems," said Ubisoft.

"We instantly took steps to close off this access, to begin a thorough investigation with relevant authorities, internal and external security experts, and to start restoring the integrity of any compromised systems."

The hackers accessed user names, email addresses and passwords.

"We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your understanding."
