The Last of Us sells 3.4million copies

Sony has announced that PlayStation 3 exclusive The Last of Us has sold 3.4million copies around the world.

The figure was recorded three weeks after the game's release, and it makes The Last of Us the fastest selling PS3 title of 2013.

It's also the fastest selling new IP in the PS3's history.

"These sale figures are a testament to the blockbuster quality of The Last of Us," said Sony boss Shuhei Yoshida.

"The teams at Naughty Dog are true visionaries and their storytelling capabilities are second to none, this title is an undisputed demonstration of that.

"SCE continues to be committed to delivering unique gameplay experiences that redefine the interactive entertainment industry and The Last of Us is a perfect example."

The Last of Us also becomes the third fastest selling game of 2013, behind Tomb Raider and BioShock Infinite.
