Battlefield 4 encourages team play with 'Field Upgrades'
DICE has revealed that team play will be encouraged in Battlefield 4 with the introduction of 'Field Upgrades'.
The upgrades are a series of chained perks that players can pick up after performing team-based actions.
"In short, Field Upgrades are chained boosts that can affect a number of gameplay mechanics for your player," said lead multiplayer designer Thomas Andersson.
"Similar to the specialisations in Battlefield 3, these can for example, provide you with faster sprint speed, stronger personal armour or expanded ammo capacity."
Andersson explained that Field Upgrades can be earned through squad healing, completing objectives with fellow squad members, squad resupplies and more.
Battlefield 4 is launching 29 October for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, before coming out on next-gen consoles later in the year.
