Ubisoft to invest $500m USD into Toronto studio
Ubisoft will invest $550m USD into Toronto-based Splinter Cell studio in an attempt to replicate the success of the Montreal studio.
The studio was founded back in 2009 and headed up by then Assassin's Creed producer Jade Raymond, one of the better known faces in the development world.
Since it's launch the studio hasn't produced a huge amount of content, but it is home to around 210 programmers and designers and is looking to increase that number to over 800 in the next ten years, according to a Gamasutra report.
Canada is slowly becoming the development capital of the world for video games with all the subsidised costs and tax cuts from the government, it's promised Ubisoft $263m CAD over the next ten years for its commitment to the area.
The studio is set to release a new Splinter Cell game, but there is also a big and unknown IP announcement coming in the near future.
