Valve has announced SteamOS, an operating system that utilises Linux to bring games to the TV screen.
Windows and Mac games can be streamed to the TV, while SteamOS will also enable users to share games.
"As we've been working on bringing Steam to the living room, we've come to the conclusion that the environment best suited to delivering value to customers is an operating system built around Steam itself," said Valve.
"SteamOS combines the rock-solid architecture of Linux with a gaming experience built for the big screen."
SteamOS is set to be a free download but no release date has been set yet.
Valve is also planning to make two other, big announcements this week, with the next one coming on Wednesday.
