Microsoft patent pressure-sensitive Xbox controller
Language »
Biometrics seems to be on the horizon for gaming, as Microsoft has patented a new pressure-sensitive controller which is also capable of recognising the gamer holding it.
The new controller claims to be able to tell who's holding it by the "personalization using a hand-pressure signature", and will have built in memory of course to store these profiles.
By doing this, the controller can give the player relevant and personalised content based on the gamer's profile.
It's unlikely the controller will be released for this generation of consoles, but with E3 around the corner, we'll find out soon enough.
