Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor announced
A new game in the Lord of the Rings universe has been announced by Warner Bros, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor.
It's a third-person action game heading to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, and it's set between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.
Players will take on the role of Talion, a ranger who is out for revenge after he and his family are brutally murdered.
"Resurrected by a Spirit of vengeance and empowered with Wraith abilities, Talion ventures into Mordor and vows to destroy those who have wronged him," said Warner Bros.
"Through the course of his personal vendetta, Talion uncovers the truth of the Spirit that compels him, learns the origins of the Rings of Power and ultimately confronts his true nemesis."
Apparently every enemy players come across will have unique qualities, including personality, strengths and weaknesses.
There's also a 'Nemesis System', which means that a player's actions and decisions will create "personal archenemies that remember and adapt to the player".
The game is being built by Monolith Productions, the studio behind Guardians of Middle-Earth and the F.E.A.R titles.
"In Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, players will explore the dark and very personal theme of vengeance in a world where decisions have a consequence, and those consequences persist even after death," said senior vice president of production and development at Warner Bros.
"The game introduces new gameplay mechanics to the action genre, creating opportunities for emergent and customised gameplay that will be rewarding for players."
Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is yet to be given a release date.
