Xbox One sells over one million units

Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox One sold over one million units during its launch weekend.

The console was released in 13 markets around the world, including the UK and the US, and enjoyed the biggest launch in Xbox history.

"Xbox One is now sold out at most retailers," said Microsoft.

"We are now working to replenish stock as fast as possible to meet the unprecedented demand from our customers."

Last week Sony also revealed that the PlayStation 4 had shifted over one million units after the console launched in North America.

Both Sony and Microsoft are hoping to sell 5 million consoles by April 2014.
