PS4 lifespan could be shorter than PS3
The lifespan of the PlayStation 4 could end up being shorter than the PlayStation 3, according to Sony UK's Fergal Gara.
The PS3 launched all the way back in 2006 and its successor is only just hitting the market now, seven years down the line.
However a lot has changed in that time, and Gara doesn't believe this new generation will last quite as long.
"I think there's reasons to believe that the next cycle might be shorter in markets such as the UK," he told Techradar.
"It's probably a sign of the times and how much has changed in seven years, but I think the willingness and the appetite to pick up new technology fast has probably changed quite a bit."
Earlier this week EA executive Patrick Soderlund also shared his thoughts on the new consoles, predicting that they would be around for about five or six years.
