Several major games publishers are offering support to players who have had YouTube videos taken down due to copyright claims.

Clips are being taken down due to a change in the way YouTube scans videos and searches for copyrighted content.

This has seen thousands of gaming videos being flagged in the past few days.

"We recently enabled Content ID scanning on channels identified as affiliates of MCNs [Multi Channel Networks]," said YouTube.

"This has resulted in new copyright claims for some users, based on policies set by the relevant content owners."

However the likes of Capcom, Blizzard and Ubisoft have all claimed that they want footage of their games to stay online.

"If you're a YouTuber and are receiving content matches with the new changes, please be sure to contest them so we can quickly approve them," tweeted Blizzard.

Ubisoft suggested that videos might have been taken down due to the music rather than the game footage.

"If you happen to be hit with claims on any of your Ubisoft content, it may be that some of the audio is being auto-matched against the music catalogue on our digital stores," claimed the publisher.
