PS4 shortage breaks the heart of US PlayStation boss

PlayStation US boss Jack Tretton has claimed that the shortage of PlayStation 4 consoles in North America is breaking his heart.

The console went on sale 15 November in North America and has since gone on to sell millions of units worldwide.

However the high demand also means that many people will be left disappointed during the holidays as every last console is sold.

"You have competition out there," he told the PS Blog US.

"There are lots of things that people can spend money on, especially during the holidays; and the holidays only come around once a year, so that’s really when you want to take advantage of the market opportunity.

"It breaks my heart if somebody’s got $400 USD in their hand and they want one and we can’t sell them one."

The PS4 went on sale 13 December in several parts of the Middle East, and retailers are warning that consumers might struggle to get their hands on a console over the coming weeks.
