PS Vita sales helped by PS4 launch

Sales of the PlayStation Vita have been boosted significantly by the launch of the PlayStation 4.

In the UK, Vita sales rose by 68% in the week following the PS4 launch, and 65% the week after that.

The Vita can be used as a second screen device for the PS4 or as a replacement for a TV using remote play, which is what Sony is attributing the figures to.

"PS Vita sales wise we are continuing to see strong week-on-week growth since our latest campaign kicked in," senior product manager Ben Law told MCV.

"The new TV advert went live this week and we've already seen amazing feedback from PS4 owners on the Remote Play feature, and the success of Tearaway highlights what [a] great proposition PS Vita is, either as a standalone device or as the perfect companion to PS4."

The PS Vita has been struggling to shift units in recent months but the PS4 launch could be the breakthrough it needs to become a success.
