Streaming service PlayStation Now announced
Sony has unveiled PlayStation Now, a streaming service that lets you play PSOne, PS2 and PS3 games on your PlayStation 4.
It will also allow users to play games on a variety of different Sony devices, including the PS Vita and Bravia TVs.
So for instance, a player can start up a game on a PS4 before carrying on later using a PS3.
"This service will in the long term provide existing PlayStation gamers with instant access to the games they love from previous generations, from the original PlayStation, PS2 and PS3," said Sony's Andrew House.
"Equally important, the service will also introduce the world of PlayStation to even non-console owners via smartphones, televisions and other devices."
Pricing details have yet to be confirmed, but there will be the option to rent certain games or choose a subscription for added value.
PlayStation Now will launch first in North America this summer, with a closed beta to start at the end of this month.
Release dates for other regions are yet to be announced, with Sony keen to ensure a "smooth and successful roll-out" across all territories.
