Xbox One might not be Microsoft's last console
The Xbox One probably won't be the last console created by Microsoft, according to studios boss Phil Spencer.
With the dawn of new technology and the ability to stream games in the future, some people are wondering whether consoles will even be needed in years to come.
However Spencer believes they are very much an important part of the gaming ecosystem, and they won't be disappearing for a while yet.
"I don't," he replied on Twitter when asked whether he thought the Xbox One would be Microsoft's last traditional console.
"I think local compute will be important for a long time."
Spencer then spoke about how hardware still benefits streaming from the cloud.
"You can look at mobile, connected to faster networks, more cloud services but local power still increases each gen," he added.
"Bandwidth caps clearly an issue, still believe [hardware and software engineers] working together will find local [hardware] scenarios critical."
