BioShock studio Irrational Games to close
Irrational Games, the developer who brought us the BioShock series, is to close as founder Ken Levine seeks a "new venture" with a smaller studio.
Levine confirmed the news yesterday, saying that a new studio of "about 15 members of the Irrational team" will now be focused on digital games that are narrative driven.
The new studio will be under the wing of Take-Two, and it's unclear which platforms these downloadable games will be built for.
"In time we will announce a new endeavour with a new goal," said Levine. "To make narrative-driven games for the core gamer that are highly replayable.
"To foster the most direct relationship with our fans possible, we will focus exclusively on content delivered digitally.
"I'm handing the reins of our creation, the BioShock universe, to 2K so our new venture can focus entirely on replayable narrative. If we're lucky, we'll build something half as memorable as BioShock."
Levine co-founded Irrational Games back in 1997, while its last release - BioShock Infinite - was one of the best titles of 2013.
