38 Studios, developer of Kingdoms of Amalur, has released the first trailer for upcoming MMO Project Copernicus.

The game is scheduled for release in June 2013, but recently there has been some trouble with financing meaning we could see delays with the release date if there is a release at all. The company failed to pay employees last week as well as failing to pay back the first instalment of a $49 million USD loan it received from the state of Rhode Island on time. The $75 million USD loan was made available after studio head Curt Schilling relocated from Massachusetts.

"We have been advised by the company that they did not meet payroll," said Christine Hunsinger, spokeswoman for Governor Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island.

Despite eventually paying back $1.125 million of the loan, another payment is due to be make in November, this time $2.6 million USD, followed by a further $12.6 million during the course of 2013.

The Governor of the state of Rhode Island told press that the state would not make more funds available for the studio.
