Dev: Unreal 3 has limitations but we understand it
Unreal Engine 3 has its limitations but it's a safer option instead of treading "unfamiliar waters", according to Murdered: Soul Suspect developer Eric Studer.
The upcoming murder mystery title from Airtight Games is being made using Unreal 3 instead of the newer version, but Studer claims this was the best option.
"Unreal 3 is what we're using," he told ArabicGamers. "The studio has a lot of experience with it so it was a natural fit for us.
"We understand the limitations of the platform, so it allows us to do some really interesting things. You see a lot of transparency in the game, and transparency is not an easy thing to do.
"And so you don't want to tread into unfamiliar waters when you're trying to do some really interesting stuff like we're trying to do in the game."
Studer said that the studio hopes to have crafted a world that players will enjoy being in and exploring, with an "incredibly interesting lore".
"An incredibly interesting world that people are going to want to spend time in, that they want to get lost in," he added.
"Characters that they're going to remember and take with them, well after the point that they finish the storyline."
